Recent college graduates in the US are experiencing increased rates of unemployment - with the unemployment gap between high school and college graduates reaching its most narrow point since the late 1970s. The New Deal saw the creation of large federal employment programs like the Works Progress Administration and the Civilian Conservation Corps. Drew Cox will push for legislation to revive these programs for the 21st century, ensuring employment for millions of Americans while revitalizing and modernizing America’s infrastructure with projects like developing high speed rail and public transit in our cities - focusing on sustainability and low-cost travel across the country. The proposed Green New Deal recognizes that we will need all hands on deck to transform our country’s infrastructure and economy in a way that meets the threat of climate change while employing millions of Americans.
