Helping the working class fight against predatory lending

The American working class is shackled by crippling debt. As of the fourth quarter of 2025, American households now have 18.8 trillion dollars in debt - an amount higher than the combined GDP of Japan, Germany and India. Close to half of Americans report feeling stressed about their debt everyday, and over half feel ashamed or embarrassed about their debt.

The ruling class has created a rigged and exploitative system of predatory lending, excessive interest rates, and harsh punishments for failures to pay within unrealistic deadlines. That drives the working class into an inescapable cycle of desperation, demoralization and financial ruin. To save Americans from this spiral, Drew will fight to pass the Credit Card Interest Rate Cap Act of 2025, which will limit credit card interest rates to 10 percent over 5 years, saving working Americans 100 billion dollars each year it is in effect. He will also advocate for legislation to crack down on predatory buy now, pay later loans, which take advantage of struggling Americans to lure them into a debt trap.
