PROTECTING PERSONAL FREEDOMS AND BODILY AUTONOMY

America was founded upon the idea that people should be free to live their lives without excessive restrictions on their freedom from the government. Despite this, we have numerous laws in place across the country that violate this principle. People are prohibited from smoking cannabis in the privacy of their own home, as well as from making highly personal and private reproductive healthcare decisions. We are currently on a path that will see these intrusions on personal freedoms grow, with attempts being made to restrict the rights of queer people and limit who can get married.

Drew is a strong believer that, when it comes to decisions about our bodies and our personal relationships, the government needs to respect our autonomy. He will fight to pass the Equality Act, as well as to codify Roe V. Wade. In addition to this, he will advocate for the removal of Cannabis from the Controlled Substances Act, where it is currently listed in the same schedule as far more dangerous substances like heroin and cocaine.
