Invest in affordable housing
One third of all American households—including half of all renters—are now considered “housing cost burdened,” meaning they spend more than 30 percent of their income on rent and mortgage payments - Home prices have risen 55% since the start of the pandemic and rent has increased 30% nation wide, even higher in other markets Florida, Las Vegas, and Phoenix. Buying homes is something that has been reduced to top earners. The median age of a first time buyer is now 40 years old compared to 31 years old in 2014. In 11 years, housing has become even more unattainable for the working class and America’s young people. To so many Americans, buying a home feels like an impossible dream.
In response to this issue, Drew Cox will fight to pass and establish the ROAD To Housing Act of 2025, this bill will make it easier to bypass harsh zoning laws, build cheap modular housing in high stress areas, and more. He will also co-operate with the Center for American Progress to help pass the Rent Relief for Reform (R3) to monitor housing crisis zones and provide relief for the American citizen.
